Rules for the Tour de France Drinking Game
Let’s start with standard rules that apply to everyone participating in this game.
General rules for Gears & Beers
Take one sip when
- The commentators mention a cyclist’s previous Tour de France victories
- A cyclist has a mechanical issue
- The race enters a mountain stage
- The race leader’s yellow jersey is shown
Take a shot when
- A cyclist takes a tumble
- A breakaway group is formed
- The green jersey (sprint leader) changes hands
- The race enters a time trial stage
- The polka dot jersey (mountain leader) changes hands
- A cyclist gets a time penalty
When a spectator starts to run alongside the cyclist, start to drink. Keep going until the spectator stops.
Additional Drinking Game Rules for the Tour de France
Every player picks two cyclists (youngest player picks first and last).
Give out two sips when
- Your cyclist is in a breakaway group
- Your cyclist takes the stage win
- Your cyclist gets an intermediate sprint
- Your cyclist gets a top-three finish for the day
Take a shot when
- Your cyclist is involved in a crash
- Your cyclists throws away a cup of water
Tour de France Extreme Rules:
Peloton Pilsner:
Any time a breakaway is formed, you can shout out “Peloton Pilsner”. Now, you need to finish a whole beer (play it with 0.33l beer). Once you finish the beer a timer starts. If the breakaway is not caught by the peloton within 15 minutes, all other players have to finish their drinks. If you fail, take an additional shot.
