Drink Your Soup – Poker-inspired Drinking Game

The game is ideally played with 2 to 7 players or teams, allowing for a dynamic and engaging gameplay experience. Inside the box, you’ll find a range of high-quality components designed to enhance your gaming sessions:

  • 54 waterproof PVC cards
  • 1 organic cotton bag
  • 35 tokens made from old fishing nets
  • 1 wooden die
  • 1 four cl shot glass

Rules of Drink Your Soup

Soup King follows a similar structure to classic Poker, with a few exciting twists. The objective is to accumulate all the chips while distributing sips to the other players. A typical game consists of 10 to 20 rounds, but feel free to adjust the duration based on your preferences. On average, each round lasts less than 2 minutes, keeping the pace lively and the excitement high.

Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of the gameplay:

Distribute Tokens: Start by giving each player an equal number of tokens.
For 2 to 5 players, allocate 7 tokens per player. For 6 or 7 players, assign 5 tokens each.

Before each round

  • Each player receives 3 cards face down, setting the stage for their unique hand.
  • Before each round, every player needs to bet one chip

First Intervall:

  • The dealer places 3 cards face up in the middle of the table. Each player can combine these communal cards with their own hand cards.
  • Starting with the player to the left of the dealer, participants can either bet more tokens or choose to check (not raising the bet).
  • Subsequent players can also check, raise, or fold based on the previous actions, following the rules of Texas Hold’em.

Second Intervall:

  • The dealer introduces 3 more cards face up, expanding the communal pool to a total of 6 cards.
  • Same as before players can check, raise or fold

Determining the Winner:

  • Unlike traditional Poker, all 9 cards now count toward the final outcome (6 communal cards + 3 hand cards).
  • Below you can find which combinations are the most powerful
  • For every two chips won during a round, the player can distribute 1 sip. In the case of an odd number of chips, the amount is rounded down (e.g., winning 11 chips allows for 5 sips to be given).

Special Cases:

  • All-In:
If a player cannot match a bet raised by another player, they go all-in. Similar to classic Poker, the maximum number of chips a player can win from each opponent is the number they put in. The remaining chips from the unsuccessful all-in player go to the second-best player in that round.
  • Running Out of Chips:
Running out of chips does not mean the game ends. If a player has less than 3 chips, they can regain the exact number from the current leader to restore their chip count to 3. In cases where multiple players have the same number of chips, the player can choose from whom they want to receive the chips. To determine the consequences for this situation, roll the die.

Special Combinations:

  • 5, 6, or 7 of a Kind:
Winning a round with 5, 6, or 7 cards of the same rank allows the victorious player to prepare a “soup” in the provided 4 cl shot glass. They can choose who must drink the concoction or create a challenge to decide the unfortunate soul.
  • 4 of a Kind:
Winning a round with 4 cards of the same rank grants the player the prestigious Soup King card. As the Soup King, they can distribute a shot to another player when they win with a 4 of a kind. Furthermore, if another player achieves a 5, 6, or 7 of a kind combination, the Soup King cannot be chosen to take a shot. The next player who wins with a 4 of a kind becomes the new Soup King, continuing the royal lineage.

Dice Rules:

  • 1:
Take 1 sip per chip received.
  • 2:
Take 2 sips per chip received.
  • Skull:
Finish your entire drink or take a shot, regardless of the number of chips received.
  • Confused Face:
Unexpected turn of events! The player who was supposed to distribute the chips must finish their drink or take a shot.

Our rating for Drink Your Soup

Drink Your Soup is a game that ads an edge to classic Poker and is a fast-paced drinking game. The combination of luck, strategy and skill makes it a perfect game for pregaming, homepartys or even to be played in bars. We liked the addition of the die, which made the game quite addictive and the waterproof cards are quite handy for a game like that.
